Should you miss a pill using either method of pill then you must use another method of contraception eg a condom for 7 days, this is due to the fact ovulation may occur due due to the missed pill. As said previously the oral contraceptive pill if used properly is a very effective means of contraception.
*Who should not take the pill*
Woman with the following conditions should not take the pill:
High Blood Pressure
Diabetics with cocomplicationsDIV>
History of blood clots (dvt)
Liver disease
Migraine sufferers as it can worsen the condition
Woman with digestive absorbency diseases such as chrons disease
Liver cancers
Breast and reproductive organ cancer.
History of ectopic pregnancy
Your GP or family planning clinic will obviously be able to access your suitability for the pill and which type would be the most suitable for you.
*Side effects*
I've broken these down into three types -the you must stop taking it now , reported long term risks and side effects and the minor niggles which should hopefully stop once your body gets used to taking the pill. this is by no means an exhaustive list of the potential risks and side effects.
*Stop right now*
One very dangerous side effect of taking the pill is the risk of developing a blood clot. Should you experience any of the following symptoms: Tenderness in the calves associated with swelling, or breathlessness and chest pain you should stop taking the pill immediately and seek urgent medical advice as you may well have developed a blood clot
It is also well documented that taking the pill can also cause a rise in blood pressure this is why all GP's and clinics check a wowoman'slood pressure prior to issuing a prescription. should you notice symptom such as excessive head aches it might be adadvisable to let your practice nurse to check your blood pressure as a precaution.
A good acronym to remind you of dangerous side effects I found on a web site is:
"A -for severe abdominal pain
C -for severe chest pain or shortness of breath
H -for severe throbbing headache
E -for eye problems, such as flashing lights or vision disturbance
S -for severe leg pains "
*Long term effects*
