It is no fun to lose baggage. Here are some steps to prevent that from happening:
1. Hand Carry if possible
If you can travel light, you could hand carry your luggage and this would significantly reduce the possibility of the airline losing your luggage.
2. Personalize Your Luggage
If possible, get a distinct luggage so that it stands out from a sea of blacks. You could do so by:
- tying a ribbon
- using a clearly identifiable luggage tag
- painting on your luggage
- using colored straps to hold your luggage
3. Know what make your luggage is
It is no fun to have the airline officer stare at you blubbering "my luggage is a black luggage. I lost my bag, it is black and... erm... " There are millions of black luggages.
4. Tear away the old flight stickers
You may think that it makes you look well traveled. But really, don't confuse the air cargo staff - your luggage might be sent to another location because you didn't tear the old sticker away.
5. Buy insurance
Even if it is the cheapest, just buy so that you have some assurance on the event of any delays.
6. Watch your bags
There are thieves and there are the mistaken. Either way, it is no fun. So where possible, watch your bags.
7. Don't buy LV or other obvious branded expensive luggage
... if you are not traveling on private jets with your own porters. That's just screaming "steal me".
