Living in a time when healthy eating is a must, the word 'snack' is often seen as a dirty word. However, it doesn't need to be that way.
Sure, having a bag or crisps or eating a chocolate bar won't offer many benefits (and probably shouldn't be encouraged as regular eating) but these aren't the only options.
Having a cup full of seeds can help keep hunger at bay and is a delightfully healthy alternative.
Pumpkin seeds in particular as seen as one of the healthiest foods available; they are rich in iron, zinc, magnesium, copper and potassium and offer a whole host healthy claims - they are believed to lower cholesterol, help protect men's bones, promote prostate health and offer anti-inflammatory benefits for those who suffer from arthritis.
Other suggestions for pumpkin seeds:
- sprinkle on top of salads
- sprinkle on top of ice cream
- add to cereal
- add to cooked vegetables
- add to baking recipes
