Season One:
Well I would like to tell you about the phenomenon that is "Lost".
We saw the adverts on channel 4 for this, which were, I have to say intriguing but somewhat strange. They involved the characters all dancing with each other and doing some very strange stuff. The marketing obviously worked though as we began to watch it each week. And each week, we were left in state of disbelief that yet again we were left hanging in the balance, questions unanswered. It was frustratingly slow yet extremely gripping at the same time.
#######THE PLOT#######
A plane bound from Sydney to LA, crashes onto a seemingly deserted island. Most of the passengers are killed but 48 remain alive and pretty much, for the most part, unscathed. It is these lucky(?) people whose lives we are then set to follow for the next 24 episodes.
They face a lot of immediate dangers after the crash, like the blistering heat and the exploding plane around them. Salvaging what they can from the wreckage that is still safe, the survivors begin to look around the paradise island they have found themselves on. Chance of rescue is slim. The plane was 2000 miles off course when it crashed. Does anyone know where they are? Food and water are scarce, even with salvageable supplies from the plane.
They need a leader, as everyone is confused and bewildered after their ordeal. Up steps Dr Jack Shepherd. He is the unspoken leader. Elected through his actions, giving medical care to others, while in pain himself from a deep cut to his side. He seems in control, level headed and calm. Everyone begins to look to him to answer their questions. They look to him for guidance. They look to him to tell them what to do. They look to him to save them!
As life on the island goes by, there are more things to worry about than lack of fresh water and toilet paper. The crashing noises heard in the jungle for one. What are these strange animals that no one has witnessed, if indeed they are animals. Radio transmissions heard through their home built radio, featuring a woman's voice repeating a distress call, which has been playing for 16 years! Are there other people on the island now, or have there been in the past?
Lost is full of questions that need answers desperately. Some will be quenched when you watch and some will leave you gagging for more in Season 2. I will not spoil anymore for you, as you just have to watch this amazing drama series for yourself to realise how much you need to know!
