Being a lawyer is what you make of it. There are so many different avenues to take when you obtain a law license. It will ultimately depend on what it is that you are looking for in your career. If you want to work for the government you may not feel the income is worth it. If you work for private practice you may not feel the time is worth it. The important part is that once you have that license you can use it for whatever ultimate goal will make it worth it for you.

Being a lawyer in the criminal sector definitely has its pros and cons. There are politics involved in handling criminal cases and the outcome is not always as clear cut as the law may try to make it. However, the legal profession is still noble and respected. Lawyers have the ability to make a sometimes overwhelming situation manageable and easier to understand for the people involved. Being a lawyer is personally rewarding when you know you have used your skill and education to provide this advice to someone in a seemingly helpless situation.
