If you do a search for surveys you will find lots of sites advertising. I have stuck to the sites that are free to register, once you have joined a few just wait and then every so often you will recieve an email inviting you to take a survey. Some test you first to check if you are a good match for the survey they want you to take. You will not be a match for every survey every time, but you get used to that and just wait for the next one which will need someone with your demographic. The more sites you join the more surveys invites you will recieve. If you do pass a screening test and get to complete a survey the email or end message at the end of the survey will tell you what reward you will get for taking the time out to do it, generally the longer the survey took you to do the higher the reward.
Most sites have an account section where you can see your money build up, refer to the sites FAQs for information on how they pay you and in what form.
