Overcoming anxiety

I can understand people being apprehensive to let anyone new into an established anxiety group. These topics are personal and very sensitive. When we speak about our anxieties we are in a vulnerable state of emotion and it is difficult to tell a stranger,in an email, personal experiences.

I may come across as really being out there but I have always been a people person, even before the heart attack in Aug.The important thing about opening up in these groups is that you can learn to trust. So much is done on the internet these days and it is the new way to find like minded people without physically travelling all over the world. The world wide web is bringing us closer together than ever before . People of all abilities and situations can find a place to communicate with others. I agree that we must be careful and build a relationship with the group members by asking good questions.

Joining a group could produce its own form of anxiety as we are venturing into the unknown. Taking this step to me means you are showing a willingness to recover from the issues you have.

I have had a lot of childhood abuse situations and I guess I dealt with all of it by going outward instead of inward. However, I have suffered from anxiety and depression since I was a child. The first time I knew something was not right was when I was 3 years old. Then again at 7 and when I really started to have a hard time I was 12.

Shortly there after my mom got sick with cancer and died.
My whole family was put into foster care . I have not seen one of my brothers for over 40 years.

I am a mother of 6 children who are all grown and on their own. I live in Canada.

There is so much more to my story and when I tell it I realize how far I have come in my own personal development over the last few months.. The past is still inside me but I choose to put it in its place and not let it control me to the extent that it did for so many years. I know everyone has a different story and I am hoping to help. In helping others I help myself.
