Bridesmaid gift ideas

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride. Though some women see this as a curse, I've found through the few times I've been one that its possibly an equally pleasurable experience. Yes, I have given my time, muscle, and money into helping a new bride, but I have received some fun and touching thank you gifts.

There are a couple of ways to go about purchasing bridesmaids gifts. One would be a more classic, less personalized approach. This especially works if you have a large number of women and are pressed for time. Jewelry is always a nice choice because it looks good and its a tangible reminder of your shared days. Another idea would be gift cards to a favorite restaurant or beauty salon. Although its not a lasting memory, anybody stressed from the planning will enjoy the time to pamper herself. An idea with a more creative touch would be lingerie from Victoria's Secret or Fredericks of Hollywood. From one bride, we were each given a small handbag filled with different Bath and Body Works sets. Make these general gifts more personal by tailoring it to each girls tastes- whether in food or fragrances.

Though those gifts are always appreciated, the best have been the more personalized ones. During one friend's wedding plans, she was lovingly dubbed the Princess because of her attitude. She then gave the three of us our own nicknames: Diva, Darling, and Vixen (don't ask). For her bachelorette party- a night with Chippendale's- we got one stripper to dress as King and give her a private show! Later, she gave us key chains with our names' on it with the motto of her bachelorette night engraved on the back. We also received a picture of our favorite stripper!

One of my friends was married just after her 21st birthday. She was a crazy 'clubber', so we loved giving her a hard time about ditching her wild ways. For our thank you presents we all received a shot glass with our initials but her wedding date engraved on it and bottles of our favorite mixers. If you are more crafty, then include what she did (the more personal side) which was a little album of pictures from preparing for her wedding to the bachelorette night. She also added little comments/stickers to each.

Remember to include a little something extra for your maid of honor.

The gift is a perfect thank you, but can also be a symbol of all the memories you shared. So, whatever you choose make sure and add a personal touch of a hand written note!
