The sooner you know the sex the sooner you can start bonding with your baby. Think about it - how friendly could you be with someone if after knowing them for 9 months you still didn't know what sex they were?
I've had 3 girls and I found out every time. The first time it didn't matter either way, but the second time I fully expected a boy. Somehow having another girl just felt all wrong. I actually felt like a failure and it took me weeks to get over that. Don't get me wrong - I wouldn't change her for the world - but I'm so glad that I found out beforehand. I don't think I could ever have forgiven myself if I had felt any hint of disappointment after she arrived.
By the time the third and final one came along I was so used to girls that I would have been thrown to find out I was expecting a boy. I have all the dolls, pink dresses and princess, fairy and ballet outfits that any little girl could ever want. When my suspicions were confirmed there was a momentary pang - I would never give my husband a son - but the overriding feeling was one of delight.
So based on my own experience my advice is - if you honestly don't care what you are getting, enjoy the suspense, but if you have the slightest preference find out and get used to it.
