Mystical vision and revelation tales

Why would we call God, 'God', if He we were NOT so? He is an all-powerful, all-knowing, omnipresent GOD!

We often find it difficult to reconcile God's mysterious ways. God is a creator, and a destroyer. He loves (righteousness) and He hates (evil). He builds and He destroys. He justifies and He condemns. He reveals the truth and He hides it. He raises and He lowers. God is supernatural, and His ways are above our ways, His thinking above ours.

Did you know that for thousands of years men and women of different nations, pursuits and beliefs have heard the Voice of God - as well seen visions, dreamed dreams, and had illuminating revelations? Why is this surprising? Does God not work in both the natural and supernatural realms? When we cry to him in prayer, are we not operating in the supernatural realm of faith? When He works things out for us mysteriously through our prayers, are we not aware of the supernatural?

Why has the present modern generation dispensed of the supernatural element of our relationship with God? Oh, but wait - could it be because we have actually discarded the 'relationship' in favor of expediency? Perhaps we want God to answer our needy prayers and at all other times hold His peace? Do we erroneously conclude that a 'real' relationship with God only existed in the Old Testament times, when biblical-era men and women heard His voice and experienced many amazing things? Have we been reduced to 'knowing' Christians? We 'know' of His power, but deny the workings of that power?

I think Jesus had something to say about that. Recall His red-letter words in John 4: 24, "God is spirit. His worshipers must worship Him in spirit and in truth".

Spirit. Truth.

Does this somehow bring to mind the Holy Spirit? Did God not promise to cause the Holy Spirit to indwell us upon believing in the deity and work of Jesus Christ? Jesus promised his disciples that they would receive power when the Holy Spirit came upon them (Acts 1:8). On the day of Pentecost, Peter explained to the baffled Jewish crowd what they had just seen; not a bunch of drunkards at nine o'clock in the morning, but rather, believers who had been filled with the Holy Spirit, which according to the Prophet Joel would cause 'your sons and daughters to prophesy, to see visions, to have dreams and perform many miracles and wonders (Acts 2: 15-17)'.

How many believers today are seeing visions, having god-given dreams, speaking words of revelation,
