What are mosquitoes good for?

a parasite that enters the bloodstream through an infected mosquito bite. Malaria can infect the liver, then the bloodstream, and it can be fatal, ir untreated.

NASTY NOISEMAKING. What is it about skeeters that makes their buzzing seem loudest on quiet summer nights?

OUTDOOR PARTY CRASHERS. Especially at night, buzzing skeeters are attracted to lights, which they seem to regard as an open invitation to join the festivities.

PICNIC INTERRUPTIONS. Can citronella candles and torches really prevent mosquitoes from ruining your picnic? Perhaps they can prevent some mosquitoes from spoiling the party, but the citronella scent does not actually keep mosquitoes away. The smoke, however, does. If you stay in the smoke, you may be protected somewhat. Step out of the smoke, and you are bug bait.

QUITE A LOT OF IRRITATION. For good reason, mosquitoes are classifies as pests.

REPELLANT REASONS. In nearly any area, tourists and locals alike spend a bundle on bug sprays, lotions and wipes.

SWARMING. Mosquitoes seem to travel in hordes, which generally appear directly in front of the face of a runner, biker or waterskier.

THIRSTY BLOOD-SUCKING. Truthfully, only the female mosquito is a bloodsucker, as this is needed for reproduction. This gender-specificity, however, does little to lessen the offense!

UNBELIEVABLE PAIN. Skeeters can be a pain in the neck, or wherever they bite!

VIOLENT OUTBURSTS. How is one supposed to react, after several bites? Mosquitoes can make one slap and scratch and stomp and swat!

WEST NILE VIRUS. This illness primarily affects birds, horses and other animals, although it may be a concern to humans as well.

EXACTLY PERPLEXING. Tell me again, What are mosquitoes good for?

YIKES! We can't stand these mosquitoes! Mosquitoes are a menace!

ZAPPERS! Those mosquito zappers make a sizzling sound, as their ultraviolet light attracts and fries skeeters.
