There's only one person that comes to mind when I think about being a role model. This person is my father. He has a lot to do with how I look at life, how I treat people, and of course how important it is to work hard in all that I do. Even though at times I don't always take his examples, my father is not only a role model or a mentor he's also my friend.
My father has always looked at life a certain way. He believes that as long as you do what you have to do and keep a nice smooth life that everything will be okay. If you leave any room for problems then a problem will come. He also keeps a smile on his face regardless what's going on. I look up to that because a lot of us now a days take things so seriously and over react when something happens. My father has taught me to take it easy and have fun with life. If you keep on looking at all the wrong then you might lose out on what's right. I'm still working on that, but I think that I almost have it down, maybe.
Another reason why my father is my role model is that I love the way that he treats people. He's always calm and collective. He presents himself well and after people meet him they leave feeling good. My father is always willing to lend a helping hand. I guess that's were I got that from. He is always helping people with anything like fixing cars, fixing up the house, or just driving family members where ever they need to go. He does it like it isn't anything. You may ask him for a favor and the first words would probably be okay, when. I'm thankful for him teaching me that.
He is also a very hard worker. I mean he came from Puerto Rico to work and save money for my family to bring down here so we could live a better life than we were living at the time. He worked in poultry factories, maintenance work, he even had a job building boats. He never complained about work (or at least not in front of us). Just as long as it brings money home you was okay by it. There isn't to many people like him in the world. Even till this day he says that he needs to stay working because it keeps him moving. He has taught me a lot about taking care of your own and supporting your family. I still need a lot of work in that department because I tend to get distracted and lazy at times, but seeing how my father did what he did gives me the energy to push my self.
My father has really taught me a lot about life and everything in it. Even though we don't agree with a lot of things I still respect him and love him to death. He is my role model and my mentor. I wouldn't have it any other way. For him showing me how to look at life, how to treat people, and how important it is to be a hard worker I am very grateful for. Thanks dad.
