The real goal of education

While most educators agree; children throughout the educational process need to absorb as much meaningful information as possible, and in a variety of subjects. However, suffice it to say; the real beneficial lesson that children take to the outside world far exceeds an "A" grade in mathematics, for example.

Best defined; schooling is merely the foundation to a lifetime of learning.
The real benefit students acquire from elementary and secondary education is
the concept of, "Learning how to learn." This is why so much emphasis is given to (reading), the most fundamental subject, the precursor to learning all other subjects.

In order to meet the challenges of life and to optimize our unique potentialities, we continually revert back to the basics of discovery. As we initially learned to read, we also became aware of libraries and book stores. Now the Internet and the digital age, offer us the most sophisticated research tools of all.

I Once heard a principal at a graduation sum it up in the most succinct manner.
She said, "the educational system gave you fine graduates the basics, now go out and expand upon it and conquer the world."
