Boston is an amazing and unique city, and with the coming of spring, has much to offer both visitors and residents. No matter your interests, Boston's natural, historical, and cultural treasures kick into full swing with the warmer weather.

Spring means that the green spaces in and around Boston are once again lovely places to enjoy a walk. Boston Common - at the start of the historic Freedom Trail - is a perfect place for a leisurely stroll or a picnic. If you care to explore Boston's colonial history, a walk along the Trail is a must. Along the way, you can visit the Customs House, Faneuil Hall, Paul Revere's House, Old North Church, and Old Ironsides. If you take the short subway ride to Cambridge, you can spend the afternoon enjoying the Harvard campus. Besides the lovely Yard and ivy-covered buildings, the nearby shops, restaurants, and bookstores provide enjoyment and relaxation.

For sports fans, spring also means the start of the baseball season, and no town loves their team quite like Boston loves the Red Sox. While tickets are notoriously hard to get, tours of the park are available for a small fee. Providing access to the press box, club seating, Green Monster, and a walk around the warning track, it is an experience not to be missed. If you can't get tickets and still want to experience a piece of the atmosphere on game day, head down to Fenway and take in the sights and sounds before game time, then head to a nearby pub to cheer on the Sox (the Cask and Flagon is a good spot).

Spring also marks the beginning of a new season for another Boston institution - the Boston Pops. Although classical music may not be everyone's cup of tea, this world-class orchestra opens in Symphony hall in early May and plays music that captures and delights any audience. Whether John Williams is guest conducting his movie scores (Star Wars, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, et al) or the symphony is accompanying a pop or rock idol, the show is guaranteed to be a hit.

With the warmer weather, many of Boston's restaurants begin to move outdoors again. For delicious Italian cuisine, head to Boston's historic North End. (If you walked the Freedom Trail, that is the neighborhood you passed through that smells like delicious garlic bread.) Small tables grace the sidewalks, and offer a relaxing lunch atmosphere in a fantastic location. If you prefer to stay closer to the heart of Boston, Quincy Market just east of Faneuil Hall offers a variety of excellent terrace-style restaurants overlooking the brick-paved shopping areas nearby. This outdoor gathering area is beautiful at night, and worth enjoying over a delicious meal.

Whatever your pleasure, Boston is a city that can deliver. Spring, however, is an especially great time to go - with the warmer weather and seasonal activities kicking off, you won't be disappointed.
