Soulmates

In a church in color and white
She steps surely up the aisle
He stands in front, grin askew with tux.
Neither is nervous, nor do they fret.
For this is a union of two individuals
who have grown as friends and lovers.

It is a connection that goes beyond
words and a promise
That started when they first met
to when they first held hands.
It is a creation that first sparks
with dreams and wishes being shared
That grows into friends that love
with many smiles and a few tears.
It is a legacy that is passed down
from their parents and family
That have walked the road before them
and given them their love.
It is a validation of something
so complex and eternal
That can be simply put
into the words "I do."

In a church in color and white
She, beauty, stands proudly beside him
He stands beside her, grin still askew.
Neither is nervous nor do they fret.
This union, truly blessed, transcends all
For it joins eternally together, soulmates
