To show someone that you love them is, in my opinion, the greatest gift someone can receive.
Romantic gifts can be almost anything. As long as it comes from the heart and is tailored to the person receiving it.
I, myself, am probably one of the mushiest people in the world. I believe in love as it's own entity. I believe it's the reason that we as humans are here on earth. But I'm aware that not everyone has been quite as affected by the love bug as I have, and to them, I offer these ideas.
One very simple idea is to create a Jar of Love (or call it whatever you want). This is a great gift to, or from, someone who is not home a lot; whether they be away on business or working alternate shifts from your own. To make this, all you need to do is get an ordinary canning jar, or if you want to change it up it can be one of those heart shaped boxes you can get at craft stores. Anything works really, as long as it has a lid. Decorate the box or jar in anyway you want. It can be in a way that matches the decor of your home, be created out of mementos such as movie stubs and pictures, or just painted if you prefer. Now all you need to do is write down a bunch of reasons why you love this person, or things you love about them. You can be vague if you need filler, such as "I love how generous you are to others." But try to have as many as possible that are suited specifically to that person. For example, "I love how cute you are when you curl up in a ball on the couch when you're cold." Cut all of these into separate strips and stuff the box or jar as full as you can. Give them this gift and explain that when you, or they, are away, they can open it whenever they miss you or feel lonely, and read one of the notes you wrote. They'll love it. And, as time goes on, you can always refill it and give it again!
Another idea that's a little more time consuming is to create a scrapbook of all of the things you've done in your entire relationship, or just in the past year. It can include mementos from your first date, write about how you felt after your first kiss, tickets from the plane ride of your favorite trip you took together. Be creative! You can include almost anything in this, and they will undoubtedly love looking through it with you and recalling all of those wonderful memories. If you need ideas on page spreads for your scrapbook, I recommend scrapbookflair.com. It gives good ideas and examples, and you can browse through other's online scrapbooks for ideas as well.
As one last idea, and one I've used more than once, you can make your own fortune cookies for them! All you need is a recipe (good ones can be found online), and electric griddle (or non-electric is fine, but the electric ones do make it a little easier), and some fortunes! You can write "Why I Love You" fortunes, or famous love quotes from songs and movies, or they can be funny things. Tailor them to your own relationship and what you think the person receiving them would like. As a plus, in my experience, if you find a good recipe, they taste ten times better than the ones you get at the store.
Good luck with these ideas, and I hope as you use them, you can change them and create even more romantic ideas to keep the romance flowing!
