Really, why even bring this up? People are people. Every athlete is picked from the same group of people trying out for the team. Let's say that team members are picked at random. If more black people try out than white people, more black people will be chosen. It is a matter of finite math. You have 80 black marbles in a bag and 20 white ones, the probability of choosing 10 black ones is a lot higher than the probability of choosing 10 white ones.
Tons of black people try out for sports you can play in high school. Basketball and football are the top high school sports. And this is just a theory, but I'm sure that even in poor communities, the highschool will still offer at least one of these two sports. Sports like hockey or soccer are often played at schools in richer communities. How many black people play hockey in the US or Canada? Not to say that there should be a classification of black equals poor, or white equals rich, but where I am from, that tends to be the case.
Finally, sports teams choose the best for their teams. If the black guy trying out can make a basket from 1/2 court, and the white guy can only make it from the 3 point line, then they will probably choose the black guy for the team. Who cares about the reasons that can't be helped? Perhaps the black guy just practiced more, maybe he is taller or has a better technique. Maybe the white guy has a bad attitude, or tries to be the center of attention when he should be trying to be a part of the team. There are many explanations for this issue that are simply have absolutely nothing to do with race.
