Glasgow is a great place to visit and a great starting place if you want to see more of Scotland. No matter what you want out of a holiday you will find it either in or near Glasgow. For starters Glasgow is easy to get to, with two major airports, Glasgow Airport and Glasgow Prestwick International Airport close to the city centre. Glasgow is also full of great places to stay, weather it is a luxury hotel or more affordable accommodation you are looking for Glasgow has it all.

Glasgow has some amazing architecture and just walking around looking at all the amazing buildings could take up a whole day. Glasgow is also full of museums and other historical places to visit. My personal recommendation is the Museum of Transport, a favourite of mine since I was a young child. Another great Museum is the Museum of Scottish Country Life which takes you through the entire story of Glasgow. There is also the Scotland Street School Museum, which lets you see what it was like to go to school in the Victorian era, right through to the 1960's. The Museum itself was designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and is therefore a must see for all design fans. For all you football fanatics there is also the Scottish Football Museum at Hampden.

If none of this is your idea of a perfect holiday don't despair, there is lots of other things to do in and around Glasgow. The Glasgow nightlife is amazing, there is literally something to suit everyone, whatever your age, taste in music or idea of a perfect night out is you will find somewhere to go out and have a good time in the city centre. Eating out in Glasgow is also fantastic, with every type of restaurant imaginable all within walking distance of the city centre.

Shopping in Glasgow is also a joy as the city has all the shops you would expect to find in such a large city, all easily accessible from wherever you are in the greater Glasgow area as transport in Glasgow is better than anywhere I have ever been. While you are out shopping why not take a trip on the open top sight seeing bus to see more of this fantastic city.

One of the things I like most about Glasgow is that you are never more than a short train ride away from anywhere. The surrounding area is some of the most beautiful countryside Scotland has to offer and you are only an hour away from the seaside at most. You can spend all day in the quiet countryside and return to the city for a night out in a hot night club.

Glasgow is also home to many music festivals and the music scene
