There is arguably only one secret to great presentations: you! The truth is, a presentation, no matter how poorly put together, understated, or free from visual aids, will always be a success if there is a good presenter involved.
The key to being a confident presenter is to be prepared. Being prepared for questions will certainly help you retain the composed appearance of an expert, even if your answers were memorized the night before at midnight.
Prepare yourself by studying your product or service intensely. You should be aware of every detail from who designed it, what it does, why your client needs it, how it will help your client, and when your client will be able to meet his needs and see the results. Knowing your product or service backwards and forward will not only help you to answer questions as well, it will definitely aid in boosting your confidence, which will undoubtedly show in your tone, mannerisms, and overall appearance.
Again, know how your product or service will fit the needs of the customer and work a custom-tailored angle. If your client is more focused on statistics, numbers, and profit, remember to incorporate these elements into your presentation. If your client has dollar signs in his or her eyes, use visual aids such as bar graphs to help emphasize and realize profit gains.
Remember to mention potential flaws, disadvantages, or associated risks; however, play up the strengths of your product or service, and if you have to elaborate on the pitfalls, remember to incorporate your counterattack strategy. If there is a risk, talk about risk control. If there is a flaw, talk about how you will fix it.
In closing, a presenter who appears composed will appear to have a wonderful product or service. Overall, the secret to great presentations lies in your ability to do your homework. Your work will reflect the effort you put into it, so give it your all, be prepared, and sell your little heart out!
