I absolutely cannot be pregnant! This is what I told myself as I looked at the little blue plus sign on the home pregnancy test I held in my hand, standing the bathroom at work. I was working at a drug store, so I had access to any test I wanted. Funny, I guess I had access to condoms to huh? Anyway I was nineteen and working on a two year degree at the local community college. My boyfriend was twenty. He was as shocked as I was. Now all we had to do was tell our parents. My mom already suspected because, well, she's a mom and she knows everything. She had bought me a test that day too. Ironic. Well, I took it hoping it would say something different than the two I had already taken. It didn't. She yelled and screamed and cried. My boyfriend and I just cried. She wanted to know how I was going to care for a baby. She thought I should have an abortion. That was not an option. I would never murder my child, I told her. Well, you two are on your own. Of course she was bluffing because she was the first one to buy my baby clothes. Eight years later, my boyfriend is now my husband of going on eight years. And my daughter is the light of my, my husband and my mother's lives. My life did not end up the way I had planned. It ended up even better.
