I got married on Halloween and everyone was in costume, so I gave gifts that reflected my bridesmaid's personality and costume. I started out with handmade bags, each featuring a Halloween themed 50's pin-up girl. Inside, I stuffed a few Halloween items, gift certificates and trinkets that were appropriate for the individual, and I hosted movie night for us. Instead of a Maid of Honor, I had a Man of Honor, and I kept with the same theme for him. He likes to cook, so I got an apron and chose a pin-up girl that reminded me of Samantha from Bewitched, which was a show we talked about a lot.

If you don't want to do something handmade, or don't have the time, have everyone over for snacks and movies, or play board games and have one last night of indulgence.

Jewelry and gift certificates are nice, but I think they're a bit impersonal and overdone. If you think it's something they would like, by all means, go for it. Anything that makes your life easier is a great thing.

Keep in mind that the gifts are just a little way of saying thank you, so you don't have to go over the top. Just let your friends know that you appreciate their support and all of their hard work.
