Nowadays speeding tickets are almost a fact of life. Here are a few tips that may help you avoid a speeding ticket in the future:
1. Don't speed in residential or school areas; police receive numerous complaints about such an issue and are often inclined to use a zero tolerance policy. If for no other reason, there are children in the area and they are, after all, unpredictable.
2. Always wear your seatbelt and obey other traffic laws: a police officer seeing a speeder might be inclined to let you pass if you are wearing your seatbelt. The potential for other serious fines multiply when you're speeding and doing something else.
3. On city streets and local highways don't exceed the posted limit by more than 5 MPH; any police officer will tell you that the fine is considerably less for an offense of less than 10 MPH over the posted limit.
4. On the interstate, police officers aren't usually looking for speeders, they are looking for more. Don't drive more than 10 MPH over the speed limit, keep your seatbelt on and your passengers.
5. The most obvious, of course, don't speed.
There are no guarantees in life. I do know that when I am working on the street that if you were to pass by me and you were within these guidelines I most likely would not stop you.
