Spring time in Boston means one thing to most Bostonians: Red Sox baseball. A hard core sports town Boston is known for some of the greatest professional sports teams. The 3 times NFL champion New England Patriots, Stanley Cup winning Boston Bruins, the legendary Boston Celtics, and 2004 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox.
No other live sporting event can compare to the passion and excitement generated at the Rex Sox home field Fenway Park. One of the oldest baseball parks in the country Fenway and its infamous "Green Monster" wall in left field is also one of the most expensive parks in the league. If you can't afford a live game consider these two alternatives:
Fenway Park Guided Tour: Souvenir Store across Yawkey Way conducts Fenway Park tours every hour from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m six days a week and from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m on Sundays. The tour is a must see for any baseball fan and details can be found at the Red Sox web site www.redsox.com.
Pawtucket Red Sox: The affordable alternative to the MLB Red Sox is Boston's premier farm team based in Pawtucket Rhode Island (approximately 60 minutes from downtown Boston). Tickets are inexpensive and plentiful. Also, if you plan your visit just right, you might even catch one of the Red Sox's starting line up recovering from injury or the next big Boston star. For ticket details and latest schedule, visit the Paw Sox's home page at www.pawsox.com.
