Webster' dictionary defines hypnosis as," a condition or state , allied to normal sleep, which can be artificially produced and is characterized by marked susceptibility to suggestion".
While much has been reported regarding the supposed benefits of hypnosis, little has been said of it's potential harm to those who innocently and I might add ignorantly subject themselves to this mysterious procedure. By definition, hypnosis is a very dangerous practice and one not to be engaged in lightly, if at all.
The human psyche is very complex, and modern psychology is , at best, in its infancy as it relates to its understanding of the true workings of the human mind. Even with all of the most recent technological advances in this area, man's understanding of the long term ramifications of "tampering' with the mind through the power of suggestion are limited and therefore a danger to be shunned.
