Museum reviews: The Louvre, Paris, France

The Louvre, situated in the Center of Paris, dates back to the 12th Century, and demonstrates the Architectural beauty of building design that was intended to last. The Louvre was protected against the ravages of invasion during the reign of Philip Auguste by the building of fortresses and walls. The Louvre today offers the art lover not only exhibitions of individual works, but also of classical art from the era of Leonardo da Vinci, whose style complements both the style of the Museum itself and it's place in history. The construction that took place during the reign of Louis XII and XIV left its mark in the corridors of the Museum as presented today, the architecture being part of the Art style and movement and an integral part of the experience a visit will give to the tourist and local alike.

This is a magnificent building set in formal gardens which are called The Tuileries, and these can be enjoyed by the visitor in a moment of pause, while the more ambitious visitor can take a visit of the oriental and Egyptian areas of the Museum and enjoy the worldwide range of arts from both East and West, and here the Arts of Islam are particularly interesting to the visitor.

Both painting and sculpture are available to see and enjoy, and there are multi media purchases that take you through the history of The Louvre and can be taken home with you as a souvenir of the visit. The exhibition areas are changed and there is a huge range available to see and to absorb, and putting by a whole day for a visit is a good idea.

Guided tours, and workshops are available so that a tourist can feel part of the experience of art, and gain better understanding and tickets are available from 6-8 Euros per day making the experience a very economical and full day out. Concerts are held throughout the year, making the cultural experience complete, and these are housed in acoustically perfect environments to enhance the enjoyment.

Open from 9-6 on normal days of the week (excluding bank holidays), the Museum really is an important part of any visit to Paris.
