Contemporary art: Is Jeff Koons' art overrated?

Jeff Koons is an American contemporary artist and sculptor who was born on January 21, 1955 in York, Pennsylvania. Koons is one of the highest paid contemporary artists in the world.

Koons attended college at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Maryland Institute College of Art where he studied painting. After he finished college, he was employed as a Wall Street commodities broker, until he became an established artist.

While Koons has many fans that simply love his work, other critics think his work is just a joke, or not artistic in the slightest way. Many times Koons uses mirrors and sets an object near it in a way that people think looks amazing, while other people believe that it doesn't take an artist to do what he does.

As far as his paintings go, many of them are paintings of pictures, or very simple things that many people see as being immature or that many people could do themselves.

I think that everyone has their own tastes and perceptions about various artists, and if people are willing to pay him millions of dollars for his art work, that is their prerogative. I do not think that Jeff Koons' art is any more overrated than any other well known artist.
