At least one guardian angel is given to each person at the moment of conception. All of us have a guardian angel who watches over us. They are even there during our dark times when we may be emotionally/mentally unavailable or when we are ignoring our spirituality. I remember one particular day, out of many, when my guardian angel was very evident. I was driving through town with my babies in the car. As I approached an intersection at 40 mph with a green light, a car turned left in front of me. I had absolutely no time to even get to my brake. In the blink of an eye, the other car disappeared and I felt my car being pushed out of the way. We were saved from a deadly accident. I have had several such incidents.
We can also pray for God to dispatch angels to where we need them. I pray daily for angels to surround my loved ones. These angels are also guardian/ministering angels in the lives of the people to whom we send them. Because of the prayers of others, even people we don't know, we have no idea how many angels we have. I frequently pray for assistance to people on the side of the road. Who else may have sent angels their way, yet they never know.
Sometimes God uses angels to test us. I have also witnessed this on a few occasions. God tells us to be kind and loving toward others because we never know if someone is an angel unaware. I was working at a convenience store and was smoking a cigarette out front. Down the sidewalk sat a transient man, dressed heavily in clothes and holding a small bag. He barely concealed his face. I went to him and asked him if he was hungry. He nodded so I led him inside to choose a sandwich. while he stood at the cooler I turned my back for about two seconds. When I turned back, he had vanished. There was not enough time for him to move as far as the next isle. He just disappeared. I asked my coworker, who was near the door, if she had seen him. She said no and that she had never seen him come in with me!
Surely, once in a while, someone may actually get to see their guardian angel. I never have. More often than not we only see evidence of them, and even that is on infrequent occasion. The thing about guardian angels is that they do not necessarily exist to save us from everything, especially from ourselves. Even with an angel nearby, we still have the freedom to make our own choices and our own mistakes. We still need to suffer our own consequences in response to our individual choices and actions. Sometimes the consequences are not due to our personal actions but are meant to bring us a lesson, show us something about ourselves or about mankind.
We don't have to be religious or spiritual to experience our guardian angel or any other angel. Most of my experiences have happened at times when I'm not paying attention to my spirituality. Recognition of these angels requires an open mind, awareness of our surroundings, ourselves and humanity. Generally, these angels catch us off guard and surprise us.
