Countless times I have seen websites, particularly blogs and personal sites, claiming that their website is best viewed only in Mozilla Firefox as opposed to Internet Explorer. They go on to claim that Internet Explorer is utter scum compared to their web browser and that if you want to see their website in all its shinning glory you must join the elite and switch over to Firefox.
All over the internet there has been this war between IE users and Firefox users. But I'm not going to discuss all of the differences; I'm only here to discuss the "difference" between the browsers with viewing websites.
Curious about this "difference" I decided to see for myself if the websites did indeed look better in Mozilla. But upon viewing it in Firefox, I found that there was absolutely no difference in the quality of the images, layout, etc. It looked exactly the same as it did in Internet Explorer. So what is the big deal with all the hype over Mozilla?
If websites look the same, why embark on a crusade on convert everyone over to your browser? All functionality with other options aside, when it comes to viewing websites they are the same deep down. If your website works enough in IE for visitors to not notice any problems, why bother with insisting upon them to change simply because you hopped on the bandwagon and want to seem "cool" by using Mozilla.
Of course, if one wished to switch to Mozilla it is completely their own decision. But to persist in building up a hype over an area where a difference doesn't even exist seems a little foolish.
