How to pick the best HDTV

There are way more choices with televisions today compared to a decade ago. Not just by manufacturers but also by the different technologies they use. The trend these days is to purchase a high definition television that's 32-50 inches to bring home the feeling of the theater. In fact it may be even better than the theater with the crystal clear clarity you get from HD-DVDs or Blueray DVDs. Due to significant drops in prices HDTVs are more affordable now than ever. If you want the best, remember to purchase the 1080p. However if you're just satisfied with moderate performance you can purchase the 720p.

Plasma TVs: They are only a few inches thick and has the most vibrant color out of all the other televisions out there. They have the deepest black to give the greatest contrast and the most graphical representation. Unfortunately they are also the most expensive out of the other types. There are also concerns about plasma screens burning out or having dead pixels. Samsung and Panasonic have the strongest Plasma quality at the moment.

LCD TVs: These tvs are not as bright as Plasma screens and lack some of the dark contrasts. They have the longest life to them and odds are they won't burn out for a long time. However you may already want to purchase the next new technology before the tv wears out. LCD screens aren't the largest in size yet due to technology limitations. Sharp is the leader in LCD HDTVs.

Rear projection TVs: They are similar in design to the TVs you bought back in the 90s. They have a boxy feel, although they have been trimmed down quite a bit. They are huge in screen size and have a cheaper price tag attached compared to all the other HDTVs out there. While the colors are decent, better than LCDs they may appear washed out compared to plasma screen TVs. Samsung and Sony makes the best rear projection tvs.

Projection TVs: If you have a spare room thats empty, you can use it as a set up for your own personal home theater using projectors. While they may not have the best contrast, they have the screen size, essentially your wall, to create a dramatic effect. Sony and Sharpvision makes great projectors.
