There has been a lot of speculation about "The Secret", but does it really work?

I'll admit I rented the movie and fell hook line and sinker for it... for a while at least.. then I think my common sense took over.. I mean seriously thinking about getting checks in the mail really works? I also bought the book , and returned it two days later. I was hoping the book would have more insight.. but the concept just felt more ridiculous.. I mean, thinking yourself thin?

My real problem with it was the money part. If you don't have the money you need to pay your bills, it's probably not wise to pretend you do and pay them. But on the flip side.. if you feel good about money and not worry about it.. you may feel better about what you do have.. (at least that's what I have been working on and I'm happy when I have .50 cents in my account the day before payday.) It also helps remind me that I'm making a steady progress and things will get better. But does that mean actually works? I don't think so. I think it works, but not in the way that the movie and book makes it out to.

The law of attraction states that like attracts like, but it means on an energy level not a physical. I think thats where the misconceptions come in. An example of energy level is emotion. If your in a good mood and you keep yourself in a good mood you will attract other people, who are in good moods. You can also help shift people in bad moods.. and the same is true for the opposite. Like attracts like..

So what's wrong with "The Secret"? Nothing, its just that it is only addresses one of the many universal laws and people should not take it literally. They need to understand that this law is small compared to the grand scale of things. You can wish all dam day for the money you need but if in a past life you took a vow of poverty you not going to get that money until you work threw that blockage.

My mentor and friend, M.S. told a group of us one night that we need to look at ourself and see why we are not getting what we want. The world is an abundant place and we are entitled to it, but.. we have blockages that keeps things from us. What do I mean by blockages? Self-esteem issues, (that keep us from talking to the person we desire or keeps us in bad relationships), Money issues (we just don't know to use it, or we feel we will have more problems if we do get more. Did you know that 95% of lottery winners end up where they were prior to winning?) Prejudices, Fears, .. (this is just to name a few)
