An associate degree is the lowest degree you can receive however the benefits of getting this degree includes being able to enter the job market quickly without spending a while lot on tuition.
Basically it is 2 years of full time study in the undergraduate department with a focus. Typically these degrees are given by community colleges, junior colleges, and some colleges and universities.
The drawback to this degree includes harder entry into fields. Employers typically pick out candidates with Bachelor degrees. If by chance you are given a job the position is most likely not promotable. However you do have time to continue your studies or explore additional training programs to obtain certifications to enhance your qualifications.

ABA - Associate of Business Adminstration
AOS - Associate of Occupational Studies
AS - Associate of Science
ASN - Associate of Science in Nursing
AIS - Associate of Individualized Study

AST - Associate of Specialized Technology
APT - Associate in Physical Therapy
AGE - Associate in General Education
The most noteworthy associates degree is ASN, an entry-level tertiary education nursing degree. Because the nursing field is high in demand, getting an associates is a prudent investment towards your education or even career.
