Interacting with other students as a distance learner

Many distance learning programs are held on line using a program called Blackboard.
Using the Blackboard program give you the option of seeing the roster, where you can get in contact with other people taking the on line course.

If your instructor has it set up, you can also talk with other students on a discussion board or forum. Using the forum can be a great way to get in contact with other student for many different reasons. You can make friends with your classmates or ask them for help with something you do not understand.

There are many other programs that instructors use to get you the class materials that you need. In most cases, you have access to your classmates email addresses or some way to send them a message. It is a good idea to send a mass message to all of your classmates introducing yourself so that you can get to know other people in your situation.

There are thousands of people just like you who are continuing their education via distance learning, and many of them would love to find someone else to talk with who knows where they are coming from. Do not be afraid to initiate a conversation with them.
