Springtime in England! The nearest thing to heaven on Earth! Nodding snowdrops are followed by the majestic daffodil. Delicate primroses give way to carpets of bluebells. Lambs skip and frolic in the fields and birds come back home from their Winter vacations!
Spring comes first to the glorious county of Sussex down on the south coast. Elegant seaside towns prepare to meet their guests. Country tea rooms come alive and pubs bring out the garden furniture ready for the season to come.
The village of Wilmington is set deep in the Sussex countryside. The narrow main street is lined with thatched cottages and the rolling downs on either side are perfect for leisurely walks. On the hillside overlooking the village a massive figure of a man is carved into the chalk - nobody is quite sure when or why it was created.
Wilmington is the ideal place for a spring break. The Giants Rest is the perfect English pub and it's B&B is the best you'll find anywhere. As well as the immediate attractions, the famous resort of Brighton is just up the road and nearby you can visit 1066 country. Here you can find the site of the Battle of Hastings and tread in the footsteps of Willy the Conk!
The downland village of Alfriston, just a few minutes away, will transport you back to a time gone by. And it takes no time at all to reach the white cliffs known as the Seven Sisters which stretch to the stately seaside resort of Eastbourne with it's wonderful Victorian pier and Europe's' largest marina development.
Springtime in Sussex! Bliss!
