Forgiveness!

In the 36 years of walking my spiritual path it has only been the past 5 that I have really taken on board the importance of forgiving others and possibly more importantly, myself and I believe its a hard lesson to learn but one of the most rewarding.

Harbouring thoughts and feelings of anger, resentment, fear ,and hate are, in the least damaging to the people around you,and at worst damaging to yourself.The way you live your life and the people and circumstances you manifest in your life as a direct result of all that negative energy.

A short life experience:
My daughter was bullied from a young age due to her weight, at 14 years old the bullying had become physical and her life was a nightmare. As a mother, it was a nightmare for me too and despite endless meetings at school nothing changed. In fact it escalated quite dramatically. I tried to encourage her to "stand up for herself", show the ring leader she wasn't prepared to take anymore. And finaly, bless her, she did.
The ringleader pulled a knife and slashed my daughter across the face, cutting all the way through at the mouth. I saw her face hanging off, quite literally, that day and she is scarred for life with a 3 inch scar across her beautiful face.

The emotional pain was the hardest to watch her endure and as a mum,how do you answer questions like" why me,mum?".
I was demented with guilt and pain at how my daughter was suffering. She was severly depressed, self concious and couldnt cope with life.

But the child (and thats all she was too) that had done this to her had suffered a horrible childhood, in and out of the care system, sexually abused by her father and was lashing out with HER pain. I don't condone what she did, naturally, but understanding HER pain and helping my daughter understand too and forgiving her for that very reason has given myself and my daughter an inner strength I did not think was possible. I didnt want my daughter growing up full of hate, I helped her know that everyone is on a spiritual path in life and we are all at different stages of understanding.
Just 4 years on and my daughter, whilst not even able to finish school because of her emotional issues has just bought her first apartment with her partner and is happy and living life to the full. The bully however, is now in prison after smuggling drugs into the uk.

A positive affirmation for forgiveness (do it for everyone you have negative thoughts about,it does get easier)

I dont know why you did what you did,
I dont know why you said what you said,
and i dont know why you are the way you are
but I accept that is where you need to be now
and i forgive you and forgive myself
I release all anger,bitterness and resentment
past and present
I release us both in my love
so be it!

Visulisation:
Whenever you think of the person send out thoughts of healing and love. imagine love coming from your heart, directly into theirs. Visualise the negative energy around this person as a black cloud and send the colour pink for love.watch the cloud get thinner and thinner ,until it disappears completely. repeat this process
confirming positive thoughts,affirmations and visulisation. Don't stop the loving thoughts.

Sound unrealistic? difficult?
Try it...........it works! and best of all?....no-one knows your doing it, so you cant look silly or pretentious..............you don't have to be a believer in religion or spirituality.................. .you simply just have to believe in yourself! :)
