that have liver problems now could take a medication with Oxycodone void of Tylenol, which is hard on the liver and it gave the person with a sensitive stomach freedom from aspirin. I know this might sound ridiculous but a person that has got to take pain medication the rest of their life's, have a lot of things to put into consideration and eliminating Tylenol or aspirin from their list's of medications is a positive thing. Case in point, when I eliminated Tylenol from my daily intake a patch of hair in the back of my head started to grow back, can I attribute this to the Tylenol, I don't know, but I have hair now where I didn't after the Tylenol intake ceased.
OxyContin is thought of not to be as addicting as regular Oxycodone because of the time release mechanism. In other word's if a regular 10 mg pill wears off, you take 10 again, therefore you get wacked with 10mg's. The sustained release keeps the levels down so it will not cause as much havoc on the nervous system.
Oxycodone is a tried and true proven strong pain reliever. It is an opiate derived from the poppy and it is synthesized from Thebaine, a constitute of the opium. Various other opiates are derived from other constituents of the poppy. Thebaine has a more uppity property to it. It was invented in 1917 by of course the Germans. It became available in the United States in the 50's. Pain relievers have been around for years and why the sudden explosion of prescribed pain reliever abuse?
Heroin and Morphine addicts have been around for decades. I am not blaming Oxycontin for the sudden impact that these medications have had on our society. But do I think it contributed? Yes. People that were just taking regular pain pills soon took Oxycontins when they burned up their prescriptions and resorted to a street source, hence their tolerance inadvertantly went through the roof. A 10 mg Percocet would not even touch a person on prescribed 80-mg Oxycontins and taking a ten milligram pill would have the same effect as a Tic Tac. Prescription medications along with everything else such as Cocaine and LSD and Crystal Meth Amphetamine have all been a menace for years. So how did Oxycontin fall into this?
I am basing my theories on my personally experiences, what I have seen, and all the news articles I have read through the last decade. The more ways a drug can be administered into the body, excluding alcohol, the more it can be abused. When Pain Management people went to Doctor's and got a prescription
