Proposal Tips for a Guy

Take it from a girl. Having spent the most part of our lives talking our hearts out to each other over phones and cuppas, a female counterpart of the human species knows more about how to melt a girl's heart than that that of a guy.

So here it is the totally unbridged 21st century version of How to Propose to a Girl.

P - Please her
I know this sound like something too obvious to be written down. However, what guys do not know is that there are some things you do that irritate us without you knowing. Do your eyes flicker to the watch when you are with her? Do you tend to check your cell phone for messages or calls, however briefly? Do your eyes linger slightly longer at a human being in skirts more than it does on one in pants? Refrain from doing these in the two hours before your proposal. Two hours of abstaining is worth your lifetime of happiness.

R Ring
Whatever you do, however modern your partner is, never, never neglect this tiny piece of metal. A proposal is never quite a proposal without The Ring. No matter how many times she may have ridiculed it as out-dated, it is still a girl's instinct to sweep the immediate surrounding for that little round thing. Having said that, do not stress yourself out over getting the details which range from size to cost. Honestly, we don't really care if it is a can tab from the coke bottle or a piece of wire from the hardware shop. You could pass off as a creative romantic for that. We just need The Ring to be present.

O Old-fashioned Knee Bending Move
Mister, get on your knees. Ever wonder why girls still lament about the good old days of chivalry? All girls want to marry knights. Act like one. The act of a guy we love going down on their knees is the ultimate oxymoron of strength and weakness. It stirs in our hearts this sense of wonderment that a tough talking strong man is rendered vulnerable to us simply because of love.

P Practice
Practice your 'proposal' look in front of the mirror. Bring on those puppy eyes. What you see in the mirror is what she will get. Don't overdo it though. Practice just so that you get the tone right. Too rehearsed and you could run the risk of being suspected of being a serial proposer.

O Open to new ideas
Be creative in choosing your venues or ways of proposing but do make it personal. It has to be something that she can boast to her friends about. My ex-boyfriend, now of hubby status, wrote our whole romance into a fairytale book with an ending that required me to write
