Careers: Finding happiness on a slow career path

Many people will continue on a dead-end career path due to lack of education, options, or other various reasons. There are some individuals, however, who are very engaged in the career of their choice, but are generally unhappy with the slow pace of advancing through the corporate ranks.

The important question to ask yourself is whether or not your unhappiness is truly attributed to the slow pace of progression, or whether there are some underlying issues contributing to your unhappiness.

When you make your living doing what you love, the chances are that you'll be happy at work, no matter how quickly you climb the ladder of authority. Do your job to the best of your ability, be patient, and you may eventually get to where you want to be. Persevering is half the battle. If you quit every job after a while as a result of not advancing quickly, you'll never be anywhere long enough to have the seniority or expertise to do higher levels of work.
