Are paid surveys a scam?

Everyone wants more money. The sad truth is that most of us in this world do not have enough money to make ends meet. Fuel costs are rising, and middle class workers are being priced out of the American Dream of having their own house. With the increase in popularity of the Internet, many "get-rich-quick" programs are popping up on the Internet, getting people who are desperate for extra money to put down money for a purchase they can not afford.

Some of the programs advertised include programs for paid surveys where visitors can make hundreds of dollars per hour in just a small amount of time. It sounds too good to be true. But, what exactly are you purchasing? Is it a scam for money? Will you make hundreds of dollars per hour if you purchase their product to take these surveys?

Let's address these questions. I would not call these programs scams. To me, they are more of a convenience store of information. Why a convenience store? Well, you pay for a product, but you typically pay a higher price for a product than you would at other stores. The information on paid surveys is out there. These people who sell the information have compiled it and sell it to others. Nothing wrong with that, as long as there is a market.

Will you get paid? Yes, you will get paid. Will you make a full time income at home. That is doubtful. Will you make enough to supplement your income? Yes, but you will need to do two things. One, answer all the surveys, and two, join multiple survey programs. Something that people forget is that just because you have access to surveys does not mean that you will qualify for each survey sent to you.

What does that mean? Simply, survey companies will ask screening questions. For example, if the survey company is trying to do a survey on a new food product, you might be disqualified if you work in a grocery store or work for a product manufacturer. A survey for a beer company will not ask for non-drinkers to rate their new product idea.

Payout will either be by check or sent to a paypal account. Some survey companies will give away merchandise instead of cash. You may also be asked to rate new products. For example, I was asked to rate a potential new brand of cereal and was sent a box to eat. It was kind of fun, feeling that your opinion could help shape a product that may or may not be released nationally.

Again, these checks will not be much, so don't quit your day job. However, an extra $20-50 dollars each month can fill up your gas tank, be applied towards a credit card bill, or used to start a savings account for a small time commitment. Personally, I am happy to spend that time for the extra money. I am also happy to share the information for free through my website, http://workfromhomeadventure.b logspot.com.
