The Louvre is one of the true marvels of human creation, showcasing thousands of incredible pieces of art done by many different artists with many different styles. Among the many paintings, sculptures, etc, you are sure to find something that you enjoy. It shows the best of human creativity and the things that we are capable of doing.
Personally, I had the good fortune to be able to visit The Louvre in 2005, the most visited museum in the world. Even before I had seen any of the famous artwork that is held in The Louvre, I was in awe of the beauty of the museum itself, and the famous Louvre Pyramid on the outside of the museum. The sheer size and beauty from the outside was amazing, and I hadn't even gone inside yet. It is fitting that if on the inside there is great artwork, the outside should be magnificent as well, and The Louvre does not disappoint in this regard. It is a massive building, and the famous pyramid is a sight to behold.
Once you're inside, you could probably spend days wandering around and just seeing all of the beautiful artwork, simply trying to take everything in. I was able to spend about 4 or 5 hours in there, and I maybe saw about 1/100 of what The Louvre had to offer. There is a vastness about The Louvre that can be a little intimidating (especially for an art amateur such as myself), but that is part of the magnificence of the museum. I suspect that even art aficionados get overwhelmed by all there is to see in The Louvre.
Inside its walls are some of the most well-known and prestigious works of art ever created. It is home to works by Leonardo da Vinci, including the 'Mona Lisa' and 'Madonna on the Rocks.' Another famous work inside The Louvre is the statue 'Venus de Milo' by Alexandros of Antioch. It is common to see many famous works of art that you have heard about or seen pictures of, and it is breathtaking when you are finally able to visit these things in person.
The Louvre is located right in the center of Paris, France, and it is a must to see for anyone visiting the city, especially for those with an eye for art or for those things which are famous. It is the most famous museum in the world, and contains many of the most famous pieces of art the world has ever seen. Just being able to wander through the museum is well worth the trip. In a beautiful city with many different beautiful things to see and witness, The Louvre is one of the most magnificent and breathtaking.
