Once the cold of winter is gone and the first signs of nice weather appear many people feel better and are happy to feel spring in the air. Unfortunately not everyone can enjoy this happiness due to problems with allergies.
Sneezing, itchy eyes, runny nose, blocked airways are medical problems caused by pollen from trees, weeds and grasses in the air and can make life difficult for people suffering spring time allergies. For most who suffer from allergies, treatment is necessary to reduce the effects of seasonal allergy discomfort.
SPRINGTIME ALLERGIES
Antibodies are produced in the blood of an allergic person and activate a certain reaction to pollen in the air. Timing can indicate a spring time allergy but the only way to confirm if you have springtime allergy is a test to find the triggers which are the root of the problem causing the allergic reactions.
The problem with springtime allergy is often your allergy arises from several substances in the environment. The skin test is a popular test to find out which allergens cause your problems but it is possible you may need a blood test for a right diagnosis. A problem is even if you can find out which allergens cause these problems, it is often hard to avoid contact with them. Springtime allergy can't be cured; once you get this problem you have to deal with it and search for a treatment to minimize the effects of seasonal allergy discomfort.
PREVENTIONS YOU CAN TAKE
It is not always possible to avoid exposure to these pollens which cause your springtime allergies but here are some suggestions which may help you limit the risk:
*Stay inside as much as possible on dry, sunny and windy days when the risk of pollen is high and go outside after it rains and the air is cleaned. This is not always possible but it is recommended to limit your quantity of trips outside during the period when the concentration of pollen in the air is high.
*Avoid working in the garden.
*Remove the clothes you have worn outside and take a shower to rinse pollen from your skin and hair.
*Wear a dust mask if you have some work to do outside.
*Wear sunglasses to limit the amount of pollen in your eyes.
*Avoid cycling and walking when the concentration of pollen is high.
