Eggs aren’t the only choice when it comes to gifts at Easter. For the keen gardener there are a wide variety of unusual and useful gifts, many with dedicated gardening themes. From the novice to the expert, Easter gardening ideas give a fun twist to the holiday.
Tools of the trade – There are certain tools, spades, forks and shears, which appear in every garden but what about the ‘not so necessary’? Kneeling mats, trugs, wellies/foot warmers and watering cans are all useful ideas when buying for Easter. Shop around for something a little unusual. Some examples might be this delightful
elephant watering can, which is also comes in a chick version; perfect for Easter, faux fur welly warmers and a fabulous pink gardening basics kit in a useful basket. The phrase of the moment – ‘Keep calm and carry on…’ - is printed on this handy kneeling mat; sage advice indeed.
Plants – Easter is a great time to get new plants out into the garden, so how about an unusual seed kit to keep in with the theme? With the decline in the bee population, caring gardeners will be delighted with this Honey Bee kit. It contains three bee-friendly flower packs and, although aimed at kids, would actually be great for anyone who wants to encourage bees to their garden. In a similar vein, the sew and grow butterfly kit is a nice preparation for Summer. There is a huge variety of packs available, from tropical, herbs, vegetables and even gnomes! It’s even possible to give a chocolate plant, almost; Chocolate Cosmos. Seeds are perfect for Easter gifts.
Fun – Who knew there was such a thing as gardener’s soap? Oh yes there is; featuring a dragonfly, daisies and a watering can, this is a cute fun gift. Or ring the cookie changes. Instead of gifting egg-shaped cookies, try these delights; any fruit or veg could be crafted from biscuit dough, coloured and put into a pretty basket tied with Easter colours of ribbon. Easter signals the beginning of brighter days and warmer temperatures, so what better than relaxing under a tree in the garden with a personalised mug and the strains of Easter Parade on the radio?
Eggs – If chocolate absolutely must be given, try this wonderful design from Confection Affection. How could any gardener resist a chocolate fork and spade? Use icing to decorate a plain egg with a personal message or quote on a garden theme – ‘If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need’ or ‘Use plants to bring life’.
Using a little imagination, some effort and a lot of love, it is possible to give some very useful and unique Easter gifts for the gardeners in the family.
