Literary analysis: Symbolism in Lord of the Flies, by William Golding

of real happenings.

It has been proven that these stories have been written and re-written for different powers (leaders) and social or behavioral needs.
Then, did the human race actually fall' into fights, misunderstandings and knowledge (technology has both positive and negative aspects) or is the story just there to help us behave properly, respect our world and the authorities?

By this, if we respect authorities, and don't argue when we're right, then everything will be perfect. Or will it?

In Lord of the Flies, chapter 5, Ralph is being disobeyed by practically everyone and this is not proper, as Ralph is a good, worthy leader and should not be disrespected without a good reason. But how do you distinguish a good, well-intended leader from a bad one? Sometimes it can be very hard. In that case Ralph should prove that he is well-intended and correct, in order for his authority to last.
Have authoritarian powers lasted a long time in our world? Well, no. Take communist Russia for example. The leadership was not open-minded and oppressed people with different ideas than those of the state'.

And now looking at the opposite. The Roman Empire lasted for about 2000 years because it always implemented new laws, and did not oppress art or architecture because it seemed improper. They were also liberal sexually, even though the Roman Empire was Christian for most of its time.

Does that mean that the Romans were fallen or simply open-minded? We are curious creatures, and must experience everything otherwise our intellect is not satisfied. This is why in authoritarian countries (were force is inflicted upon you when your ideas do not match those of the state' and you are not allowed to know more about liberal countries) a feeling of rebellion is created among the people.
Our curiosity is probably the reason why we believe in the un-natural or impossible'. We know that we do not have knowledge about everything on Earth and in the world; and stories and myths give us a fast-start, from a young age, in believing that ghosts or other such unknown things exist.

We FALL to please our CURIOSITY. It is part of us; we want to know what is good and what is evil, so that we can have an option. There is evil in all of us but usually our principles and believes hide this evil deep in our subconscious mind.
Then you ask yourself, should I watch my curiosity or let it be free' and live life to the fullest. Well, if that is your idea of living it to the fullest, yes, but it mostly depends on the situation.

Take care of your curiosity and imagination, and don't let them destroy you.
