Reflections on whether Christiano Ronaldo could be the best soccer player in the world

Cristiano Ronaldo was first spotted after a friendly with Manchester United. All players tried to convince Sir Alex to sign him after an impressive display. This brings the kid to big show stage.
The "best player in the world" is what Sir Alex Ferguson believes and "one of the greatest players he has ever worked with". His predecessor, David Beckham has to admit that Ronaldo is more than capable of fulfilling his shoe after another display against European All Star team.

When he arrived in the Premiership from Sporting Lisbon in 2003 he was a show-pony, he tried too many tricks and with too little end product. We said he had great potential but he doesn't deliver.
His debut wooed Manchester United fans as the young and flamboyant winger with gold streaks in his hair and white ankle socks bamboozled the Trotters' defence. But too often his trickery led to no goals. Too many stepovers mean he is too predictable.
Reaching the heights of greatness in world football means having a name and reputation so valuable that he could win anything, but more importantly it means neutral and opposition fans alike identify him as one of the best players in the world.
There are many talented professionals out there, but few have what it takes to reach the heights of greatness. One of measurement is how many trophies he has won in his career. No one would compare George Best to Pele though Pele admitted Best is better than him as Best has never made in World Cup or European Cup apart from sole European Cup (Club) medal.
Ronaldo could achieve all that as he has the best team and coach in Portugal national team and in Manchester United. Don't let the success get over his head and those stupid agents trying to lure him to Real Madrid and Barcelona, he will be the best player in 2008 Euro and beyond.
