Easter is a fun time for crafts, and one such activity is creating Easter baskets.

Easter baskets can vary in design with the imagination of the child. Various different materials can be used to create the basket. Recycled products are best to use, as this makes this craft inexpensive and enjoyable.

Being able to create a cute Easter basket out of recycled materials puts them to good use. Collect an array of materials, boxes, ribbons and such in preparation. These can be used to create all different Easter baskets.

What you need to create Easter baskets:

Recycled resources

Scissors

Glue

Paint

• Making an Easter basket

Any square, round or oval container can be used for the basket. These can be found in various different packages. The shape can make the basket unique and individual. The container can be painted, covered or left as it is depending on what is preferred. The outside of the Easter basket can be decorated in any way imaginable with cut out shapes, feathers or anything else that can be found in the craft box.

• Basket handle

The handle of the basket can be constructed from the same material as the basket itself, or from a stronger material if needed. It all depends on the nature of the basket. A strip of card can be cut to the desired length and stuck to either side (inside or outside) of the basket. This can be decorated to coordinate with the design of the basket to give a perfect finish.

• Inside the basket

The base of the basket may need some reinforcement, which can be added with a piece of card cut to size and glued to the inside. The inner of the basket can also be covered, decorated or painted to complete the overall look. Shredded tissue paper or ordinary shredded paper can be scattered in the basket. A selection of plastic eggs or real chocolate eggs can be added. You may also want to add some little Easter bunnies or chicks, which can be made or purchased.

The basket can be used for a table centre piece or Easter decoration. Children can have fun designing different baskets with any materials that are available. Give your child some ideas and explain the basic concept of creating the basket. Your child may need help with the construction of the basket. After which, allow your child’s imagination to design the basket in any way wanted. This can make the basket very unique and special. Easter baskets make great decorations and can be given as gifts with a chocolate egg or two.
