Short stories: Finding love

A Short Story About Confliction:

You know how it is when everything just seems perfect? When you find this perfect human being who seems to be like you in every way? Same sense of humor, enjoys doing the same things. Everything they do makes you smile. You get along famously, for months, maybe even years. This is the person you've waited for all your life, the person who wants to make you his bride, the person who sees through the crazy and loves you anyway.

But then, there's something strange. An odd feeling, a horrible feeling really. It's doubt. You don't want to acknowledge it, you'd really rather just ignore it and hope it goes away like last night's Chinese food. What if this isn't the person I was waiting for all my life? Doesn't everyone ask this of themselves at one time or another?

Sometimes, our ugly little friend doubt, could be cleverly disguised as fear, another nasty contender, especially when the two tag team you. What if this person over here is a better fit? What if I'm being incredibly stupid letting doubt and fear tag team me? I'm certainly stronger than the both of them aren't I? Why would I go ahead and ruin something perfectly swell?

Stupidity: The act of knowingly ruining a perfectly happy life. Don't be such a stooge! Don't let doubt and fear get the best of you, give em' the old left hook.

Still, there is a small feeling a dread at the bottom of your heart. There is another potential. However, this potential is more than likely wrong for you in every way, even if you admit it or not. It's called, the "grass is greener" syndrome, and you will not fall prey to it. You must say: "Your ship has sailed" as it were.

Be with this one person who loves you even when you're ugly, when your hair is a rat's nest. This person who looks at you even when your nose is red and your eyes are puffy and you're sneezing and still says you're pretty. This person who lets you sit there and cry the night away because your heart is broken. Be with this person who you know is your own personal rock and despite the cloudy days, will not leave you because of doubt, fear, or stupidity.
