My husband and I spent last summer constantly entertaining friends. Not only did our friends spend the weekends with us, they were over just about every night of the week. Of course, we were to blame, as we did extend the invites (at least half of the time). The gatherings usually consisted of drinking and music, the occassional steak thrown on the grill, etc., but they always meant less time spent with our family; that is, our children. I realize how important it is to socialize. As adults, our "plates" are generally full with work, finances, kids, household, and the list goes on. We need the interaction with our peers. But how much is too much? Obviously, that is for each individual to determine. If your children start asking,"Are people coming over again?", such as mine did, or your marriage is put on the back burner, than it is definitely an issue. Our family units are so disrupted now days by the daily grind of just trying to survive. It's so important not to lose sight of what is important, you and yours. If you have children, make sure they come first. They don't stay young for long. And if you have friends, true friends, they will respect the fact you have a family and surely understand that family comes first.
