Gardens are like babies.
They need your tender, loving care and attention while they are young; to feed, protect and nurture them. As they grow, they need your support; to keep them safe and productive. Yet, the rewards are immeasurable. They are a joy and natures blessing.
What my garden taught me....knowledge rules, patience is a virtue and hard work is not really hard if you love what you do.
You need to put the work in to get results
-prepare, seed, feed, weed.....
You need to have some idea of what you are doing
-what to plant, when to plant, how to plant...
You need to plan in advance and at the right time
-till the soil, fertilize, keep the weeds down, make your rows, put in the stakes..
You need to love nature
-the sun, the rain, the bees, the seasons
You need to be kind to the environment
-add to the soil but do no harm
What it taught me the hard way....
-if you don't do a little each day, the work piles up, you get discouraged and give up
-if you don't go back to see how things are going you are likely to find it over run with weeds and weeding is a back breaking job
-if you don't tend to it with love and care on a regular basis, you get no rewards
But,
-you do get another chance and you can learn the lessons well
Just,
-arm yourself with more information and aim to do better next season.
