Although the men’s 2013 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Event wasn’t as flashy as the outfits that were worn to the People’s Choice Awards, there were still elements of classic style and quiet subtly that stood out. The standard tuxedo was prevalently displayed throughout the evening, and at times its monotonous appearance became tiresome and bland. Thankfully there were a few celebrity men who took full advantage of the interesting style elements and detailing that designer tuxes offered. These men were among the best dressed of the night.
It was an exceptional night for Ben Affleck; both in the award category and on the Red Carpet. His Gucci three-piece midnight blue peak lapel tuxedo created quite a fashion statement. Complete with his matching satin bow tie and perfectly groomed facial hair; his entire appearance exuded refined style and sophistication. Best Actor Nominee Bradley Cooper went for the classic two-piece tuxedo instead of donning its traditional three-piece counterpart. The tailored black Tom Ford single-breasted tux, black button white dress shirt and smart black bowtie; when combined with his semi-scruffy facial hair and stylish long locks, showcased his undeniable charm.
Robert Pattinson also showed off his dapper look in classic, elegant style. The Twilight heartthrob donned the Red Carpet in a sharp black peak lapel Signoria tuxedo by Gucci. His crisp white dress shirt and black satin tie highlighted his slim frame, while his black leather lace-ups finished off his clean shaven look to perfection. Last but certainly not least, Skyfall’s Daniel Craig stylishly showed off his distinguished charm with a swagger only 007 could pull off. Daniel effortlessly donned a cool pair of shades with his classic Tom Ford navy tuxedo. It was fashionably accented with its grosgrain lapel, classic dress shirt, silk bowtie, silk pocket square and patent leather shoes.
The 2013 Golden Globe Awards men’s Red Carpet Event was an evening full of very few fashion hits and many style misses. Although the negative aspects ultimately outweighed the positive style results of the evening, there were still a few small glimmers of hope that shone through. The clever design elements and smart detailing on the designer tuxes not only helped to raise the style bar, but also helped to create smart, fashion-forward styles. Hopefully these stylish details and bold designs will continue to flourish and positively influence men’s fashion at future Red Carpet Events.
