Testimonies: What is your favorite animal and why

I think my favorite animal would definitely be a dog. I can't think of any other animal that is as greater company than a dog.
I was raised on a farm and consequently always around animals allot. Especially dogs. They were my fathers working sheep dogs and they were always great company. They would follow me all over the farm and be a companion anywhere I went.

Dogs give you a unique feeling of being cared about because they are always making eye contact with you.
Where as the likes of a cat, and don't get me wrong cats can be good pets as well, to hold on your laps on a quiet night by the fire watching TV. But cats always look as though they couldn't care less and sooner sooner or later the cat will want attention or to be feed, but it will not just want it will demand it.
There is an old saying. Dogs have friends, cats have staff.

A dog will want to be feed and want to be given attention as well but it will be begging and lobbying and therein lies the difference to a cat.

Also there are many stories where a dog, depending on the breed will protect you somewhat against danger. Be it from another person or animal. Of course there are amazing things a dog can do. Taking guide dogs for a start.
But dogs can be trained to do far more than just guide blind people. They can help disabled people in wheelchairs live easier and more fulfilled lives by doing simple things like opening doors and opening household items.

I have even read that dogs have been trained to predict when a person that suffers from epilepsy will have a epileptic fit, so they can guide that person to safety and guard them until help arrives.

Dogs are great fun just to play with though. However they need attention and time spent with them to train them and teach them to be obedient.
Living in London at the moment I take my aunties weinmaranar all over the neighborhood for walks. We got to get the newspapers and she knows to wait outside the shop. She has a fan club around the neighborhood because everyone loves a good natured old dog.
