Crop pants are a very popular style that can be  worn in the longer length all year round.  They are called crop pants because they are cropped and do not reach the ankle.  There are several different names applied to crop pants depending on how long they are. The definitive crop pants are just a few inches above the ankle. If they are mid-calf, they are usually known as clam diggers or pedal pushers; and if they are a few inches below the knee, they are often called Capris.  The name crop pant is indiscriminately applied to all of the above lengths.

What shoe to wear with a crop pant will depend on the actual length of the pant and the material, as well as the style. There is no one shoe fits all when it comes to crop pants. The pants themselves can be very casual or very dressy, and the shoes that you should wear with them will reflect that.

Yoga style crop pants will be made of a stretchy material and most of them will be fitted quite close to the body. These will look good with a casual shoe such as a sneaker or a ballet flat. With the sneaker, colored canvases either tied or slip on or an athletic shoe will be a good choice. When it comes to ballet flats, they come in a wide variety of patterns, colors and designs.

This is the most casual of the crop pants looks. Depending on what you are wearing for a top, you can add a sandal or a wedge to dress the look up a bit.

Denim is a popular material for a crop pant. It can be a skinny crop or a wider leg, but either way that you go, just about any height of heel will work with the pant. Because these are warm weather wear, wearing a peep toe shoe or a strappy high healed sandal will make more of a fashion statement.  Espadrilles are also a good choice with their pretty wedge heels.

Cropped pants can be worn to the office if they are made of traditional work slack materials such as linen and lined cotton. They should be of the longer length; Capri pants are not acceptable at most offices and they should be worn with closed toes for an office appropriate look.  Kitten heels, wedges, high heel pumps are all dressy enough to wear just about anywhere.

Crop pants are a great addition to just about everyone’s wardrobe.  They are versatile and can be worn just about anywhere as long as they are paired with the correct top and shoes. If you live in an area where there is warm weather, they are a great summer time option.
